How to use it
Choose your quality and audio
Up to 4K at 30 or 60 frames per second, with system audio, your microphone, both, or neither.
Pick what to share
Your browser asks whether to record a whole screen, a single window, or one tab. To capture sound from a tab, tick the audio box in that dialog.
Record, pause, stop
Pause and resume as often as you like. Stopping the share from the browser’s own bar ends the recording cleanly rather than truncating the file.
Save it where you want
Pick a folder before you start and the file is written straight into it the moment you stop, never passing through your downloads folder. Without one, the Download button does the same job. Choosing a folder needs Chrome or Edge.
Questions
- Is there a watermark or a time limit?
- Neither. The recording is produced by your browser and written on your machine, so there is no server cost to recover and nothing to brand.
- Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
- No. The video never leaves your device. That is also why it is available immediately when you stop — there is no processing queue.
- Can it really record in 4K?
- It captures at up to 4K, but no capture can invent detail a display does not have. On a 1080p monitor, choosing 4K gives you a 1080p image in a larger frame. Pick the resolution that matches your screen.
- Why is there no sound from the tab I recorded?
- Browsers only share audio when the box is ticked in their own share dialog, and only for a tab or an entire screen — never for a single application window. macOS also does not offer system audio for whole-screen capture.
- What format is the file?
- WebM with VP9 video and Opus audio where the browser supports it, which every modern editor and every major platform accepts. Safari produces MP4 instead.
- Which browsers work?
- Any desktop browser with the Screen Capture API: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari 13 or later. Choosing a save folder needs Chrome or Edge; elsewhere the download button does the same job.
